In a statement last week The Warranty Group said that if Comet is unable to continue repairing items it will appoint a new company to continue this service to customers.
Comet has also advised customers that if an item breaks they should contact Comet Customer Support Centre on 0844 800 95 95 and select option 3 and follow the voice prompts which will direct you to the relevant repair agent.
If the product is outside of its warranty and breaks due to a fault – rather than wear and tear – and you paid by credit card then you can contact your credit card provider to claim back the money.
This comes under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act – whereby consumers are protected on purchases on credit cards from £100 up to £30,000.
You will have to prove that it’s inherently faulty though and not just failed from wear and tear, so the longer you’ve had an item the harder it will be to prove you deserve a refund.
Good luck...
