how do I start to find the problem,then fix my printer?

Check connections (usb or parallel) - check power.
Always worth power cycling.
Try a test page - just hold the power button on for a second - if this doesn't work, then hold the power button as your plug in the power - it should print a test page.
If this all works - then try reinstalling the printer driver.
