How can I stop the thread from being caught in the Tension Knob & breaking?

The thread gets caught in the Tension Knob & breaks after a little sewing, & I have to go thru the process of threading the needle, etc. The machine is a New Home #651

Hello Bernard,
I think you are getting a false impression on your machine, something else is causing the thread to break unless you are putting the thread round the tension twice, make sure you have threaded the machine properly with the presser foot up so the thread goes between the discs, top tension between 4 and 6, make sure you have the needle in the correct way round.
