Mend Red Light Wash

Please fix for me?

During any cycle why does the machine stop and a red light starts flashing prompting you to press.
Its like the machine just paused during a wash and if not noticed your washing could be sat in the drum all day, until the red light button is pressed again hopefully you can sort the problem thanks Ian..
