Hotpoint EW81 Halogen double oven cooker?

The main oven is working correctly, but the dial with the temperatures on will not move round with the knob, therefore we have no way of knowing the temperature of the oven. The grill has been stuck like this for a number of years but can be used. However the oven is impossible to use if we cannot regulate the oven temperature.
