cuts out after 15 secs, wait 10 secs restarts ok then cuts out again ?

Honda hover mower --
Tried to start the mower after a winter layup - starts ok - runs for 15 secs then pops/bangs & stops. Wait 10 secs its starts ok again then pops/bangs etc. tried with filter off, tried opening nuts at bottom of carb to check for fuel.
suggestions please

it sounds like one of 2 thing. water in the fuel can cause tha, drain clean & dry, use new fuel. the other could be a spark plug. The conection inside seperating as it gets warm, get a new one, if all fails, borrow next doors
