will the brushing on the kitchen aid go into orifice in only one way?

when inserting brushes in the my ksm5 kitchen aid mixer i could not find little square that is used for aligning brush it was not visible i reinserted both brushes after several tries it worked fine...does that mean the brushes were properly aligned and caused it to work fine.
