Where do you find the pump in a defy automaid600?

The spin cycle of my washing machine doesn't work,but before I try fixing the machine myself,I want to know where the pump is found.To check the pump,should I open the back and take anything apart;and with the water stuck in the drum,won't this damage the machine?
