Box works OK but after recording a film will not replay? Thomson DTI300 Top?

Thomson DTI300 Top Up & Digital TV recorder
After recording a film we tried to play it back it showed on the guide but the screen went blank when the play
button was pressed. We noticed that the small screen on the guide was also blank. All the previous recordings were listed but none would play. Can you help please.
