yup,i kno w what you mean acorn,it all depends on the connection you get with the crocodile clip,i have had various readings on the same battery,as you say,we may have been conned

how on earth did we manage for all those years testing Batts. without the "special unit" we use?

I'm not and will not be convinced that the accuracy of testing, between the Gold & Gold plus units is correct.

Having replaced 100s of batts. at the behest of the Gold and testing again (perhaps 1/2hr or more, later) with the Gold plus which then says everything is ok which piece of this special unit am I to believe.

Mentioned it to my Co. what a waste of breath that was.
It's not as though we charge for the battery, that sort of thing is covered by the 'all inclusive' R&M

Have we been conned with this equipment, after all it's not cheap

could be a dry joint in the reed switch inside the pa button,or a cable fault,or the battery has given up the ghost,you wont be able to test the battery without the special unit that we use,best just to replace it,
