Just fitted a new optima alarm panel and connected the battery in the wrong way which blew the fuse replaced the fuse but each time I recoonect the battery in blows the fuse again . Is it likely that I have damaged the battery or the panel
Put another battery across the leads, ad long as it is 12vdc and see what happens.
I think the panel had had it.

Have double checked cables from battery to connector block as well as polarity but still blows fuse this happens on battery supply only so is it possible that the battery has a fault caused by the cross connecction ?

Thanks for response I am not as thick as I sound just lost concentration for a mo alarm woks fine connected to main supply but will blow 1.6a fuse as soon as battery connected regardless of if connected to mains or not . Panel was working on battery supply fine until I reversed polarity therefore cale fault is unlikely but have checked the cales that run from the battery to the panel and all ok

Hope you are reading this!!,and still here with us tripping the light fantastic, that panel is not really a diy install.
Especially if you are not good with wiring, reversing the battery`s polarity tells us a lot about your skills.

The +ve battery fuse safeguards reversed polarity connection, and should prevent damage to the micro processor board.
disconnect mains power, and see if the fuse blows, you may have a short.
Check your cables!!!.

Is all this with or before the Mains is connected.
