Mend Indesit Open Door Handle

How can I open the door of my Indesit WD12?

Tried to open the door when the light was blinking and everything seemed ok, but then handle broke off. How do I open the door to get my clothes out? I have tried using a screwdriver but the catch isn't releasing.

Worked it out myself!

With the wrong end of on old fork, I was able to poke it down the left-hand side of the broken catch. Then levering the fork to the left (quite strongly) the lock opened.

It looks a simple job to buy a new handle and replace it.
