Mend Ford Transit 85 T260 2.0l TD

what causes engine failure on my ford transit?

Can any one tell me why my ford transit 85 t260 2.0l td randomly cuts out and the glow plug light flashes. It happens once every 7-8 days some times it will start again right away and other times i have to wait an hour or so before it will work properly. then its fine for a few days and then it goes again.
