Bosch Excel 1200 stopped dead?

i put in a load of washing, halfway, heard this short sharp sound, like a fuse blowing and then it stopped dead, no electical output. i changed the fuse and put in a new one. i put the old fuse in a kettle plug and that is still working so power is going to the machine. what's wrong with it?
