Can a large riveted bolt that is sheared off be replaced?

The large rivets are usually not user replaceable once broken. Some people use bolts, nuts and washers if space is available. Sometimes you can use clevis pins, washers, and clips. If the broken rivet is still potentially usable, take the mechanism and rivet to a nearby welding shop. My local shop charges a $25 minimum charge, but compared to the cost of the recliner, that is usually insignificant. Many times when I replace a mechanism link, I grind and pop out the rivet, take the unit to the welding shop, and have them tack weld the rivet back into place. - Randy Buchter, Furniture Medic
