That fix is temporary, beta stage, for those who have that problem and need to correct it now.
If you wait 1 to 3 months, you'll get it automaticaly pushed on you via the auto-update, when it's fully debugged.
If you install the temporary fix now, it will get replaced when the final correction will cones out.

In the past, I succesfully used some of those temporary or experimental patches/fixes and never encountered any notable problem.

You can probably safely install that fix. Just ensure that you have no unsaved data before you shut down and you should be just fine.

just found on the internet, this is a fault with windows 7. microsoft offers a "fix" but will not gaurantee it and don't if any damage will be done..

Thanks electro, checked processes. It only shows task manager and avg running, both at 1-3.

Press CTRL + Shift + Esc to open the task manager.

Check the Processes tab. You will probably find a processes for a closed programm still active, maybe with a high CPU use.

When you close a programm, it's window do close and it will disapears from the running programms list, but the process itself may take quite some time to effectively finish. In some cases, it may need to do a LOT of cleanup, like freeing memory, closing and deleting temporary files, clean, update and compress a database, wait for some helper application to terminate, whitch entails still more cleanup steps.

Jou probably only need to close the problematic programm and wait untill it finishes it,s cleanup, THEN shut down.

if you press down and hold the keys CTRL. ALT . and then press down on the key Delete, if should show the list of what is running, you can highlite it , and stop it running,
