I disconnected the hob and removed the glass panel (3 screws on each side). I noticed that the heat elements beneath were pressed up to the glass with a spring in the middle and clips on the sides. I noticed that the clips on the side were not tightly clipped to the chassis, which meant the heat elements appear to sag on the sides. Using pliers, I straightened the clips up and reassembled the unit. It seems to have solved it for me. Hope this helps

just disassembled it with (torx?) screwdriver
the glass surface was lousy
I saw how glass goes to panel
after put the glass surface back - it works!
NO more er22!

From what I have garnered on the Internet so far, it means the hob is not sensing the touch pad. One resource said to try and clean the touch pad, but that did not solve my problem . One other resource said that Fault code ER22 means The control panel is filthy or has water on it and the solution is to clean the control panel (Did not work for me either). In any event, try to switch the hob off and see if it solves the problem. You may also need to call out a technician if DIY does not work (i am currently waiting for a technician to check it out).
