anyone no whats wrong?

started car then dials on dash not working ie speedo revs fuel gauge . then went 3 miles and turned car off. when i got back in it stated then cut out did this about 3 times. left it 5 mins then tryed to start it again it started and all the gauges started to work again anyone no why thanks it is a skoda octavia 1.9td 2004
