Is it possible to replace a suspected faulty PIR without having to access the security main panel?

Why not just tell him to cancel the tamper with his code when first operated?

It is, but the tamper alarm will sound, so will need to be reset after. just be very careful not to short any wires together, tape up each one, then untape to refit, as you go, use some earplugs
