Mend Kenmore 885.1646 Dishwasher Cycle

Kenmore dishwasher 885.1646?

Washer will not go through a wash cycle. I have tried the reset buttons (heat/dry) panel lights up sounds like it is working. Then it shuts off. I then push start and nothing happens. Do I really need a repair man or new dishwasher?
