Mend Hotpoint Help Problem

Hotpoint WMA56 - still only part-filling. Help please!?

Thanks to Phil and Mike for their suggestions, but I still have the part-fill problem with my WMA56P. It only partly fills. The spin is OK. The pressure switch has been checked and apparently works. The chamber operating the switch on the sump has been cleaned (though did not need it as it turned out). The water level when the machine runs empty reaches 2/3rd or 3/4rs of the bottom paddle - too little. The machine has worked well, using far more water than it does now for 18 months. But now it won't dissolve the tablets properly. I have had one idea - should the level switch operate twice (to accommodate the clothes soaking up the water) and if so might this be the problem? If so would the pressure switch be at fault or the controller (ie not telling the machine to do the second /top-up fill)? Any ideas?,

Try this, first make sure the pressure switch and associated pipework is clear and clean.

If the pressure switch is faulty, it would show up very easily as the machine would continue to fill and not stop.

The pressure switch controls how much water enters the machine before cutting off the water supply, via a simple diaphram switch.

If the water level is still too low after cleaning, remove the lid from the machine(Two screws hidden behind plastic covers) to access the pressure switch, remove the pressure switch from it location(directly behind the dispensing draw), turn it over, at the rear there are two Posidrive/Crosshead screws, screw the centre one in as far as it will go ( this increases the amount of pressure required before the cold/hot water feed is cut off, HENCE IT ALTERS THE WATER LEVEL IN THE MACHINE).

So adjusting the screw in increase the water level ,adjusting the screw out decreases the water level.

Found this out as we had exactly the same problem, seems working in the water treatment buisness for years has at least taught me something use full :-)

try changing the pressure switch to the one fitted on the wma30 etc range(which did put slightly more water in)....however i'm pretty sure that machine is working correctly judging by what you've said has been changed...never been a fan of tablets in new low water level machines,i'm convinced that there is too much powder in for these products and the water dosen't come in for long enough to dissolve them (in the drawer) you need to change to a loose powder reduce your doseage and use extra rinse button....
p.s another thing you could try is turning off the hot water supply to the machine..the machine will realise this and compensate by using the cold water to flush powder into drum..
