why does this keep occuring?

i have a 2004 peugeot 307 hatchback, and the engine management light keeps coming on, saying that i have a problem with the fuel mixure and the cruise control,but the thing is i don't have cruise control on my car.My local garage keep repairing and testing it and trying different things,but it still keeps coming on.?It would be appreciated if someone could advise me [please.
