How can I fix my vhs?

I have a tape that plays only sound but has no picture. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

are your other tapes OK? we need to check if the fault is with the tape or the machine.
try the tape on a friends deck. see what happens.

Adam,

At the back of the VCR there should be a small switch. This is a signal test switch. Try switching this with the tape playing.

Some VCR's won't have this switch.
The other cause may be the VCR head itself which may need attention.
