Mend Ford Transit Bus

racing engine on transit mini bus?

ford transit 15 seat mini bus,2002 2.5 diesel. after driving for random amounts of time the engine starts to race. if i switch off engine it goes away until it will start again at any given time. have replaced the temp control switch but to no avail.Could it be faulty acc sensor.

does this have the EPIC fuel system on this?if so remove the large round electrical connector on the pump and check for moisture/corrosion in the terminals,worth a look good luck,a code reader may help you out also.
