stihl FS55 sparks but won't start?

my stihl fs55 strimmer sparks but won't start. ran out of gas while using, so refilled and now won't start. ignition coil was replaced by friend but still wont work. i have a good spark, it missfires when pulling the starter. could the start/stop switch be duff? suggestions please
