Mend Maytag PAVT234AWW Washing Machine Wont Spin

My maytag performa washing machine #PAVT234AWW wont spin. How can I fix it?

My Maytag performa #PAVT234AWW washing machine stopped spinning today. It goes through the entire cycle fine but the basket wont do the final spin. The machine keeps running but the basket just sits there. It does drain all the water out in the end but my laundry is still soaking wet. The belt on the bottom is in place and runs fine. Please help! Im tired of wringing out all my laundry!

Either the brake release cam on the pulley is worn or broken and not doing it's job properly or something has broken in the gearbox. Neither job is an easy DIY job. Call someone out.
