burning smell in new microwave?

i have recently purchased a hitachi mse23 about a week ago when u first used it we could smell burning sort of smell .we thought maybe it is because its new .We have only used it twice and it still smells of burning we thought about talking it back but is normal because its new or is there somthing wrong.
