humms are usually motor related , Drain pumps are the first port of call as they do a lot of work and do wear out over time , if it has a circulation pump this too will make noises when worn . The main motor hum usually happens with induction motor machines (ones without carbon brushes ) when the capacitor is failing . The capacitor on washers are mostly located at the point where the power cable enters the machine along side the noise filter . They both may look similar but the noise filter is the one connected to the mains power lead directly . If it's not located there then it will be on or near the motor at the bottom of the machine . replace with an equivelent value capacitor and the problem should be solved .
