Mend HP PSC 2355 Printer Paper Print

Printer wont automatically take paper?

Have a HP PSC 2355 and though will print - I physically have to stand there and "force" paper through in order to print.. It does all the whirring and clicks etc but then says printer out of paper which its not. It seems like it can not "catch" the paper I have to wait for the right moment to push the paper further..I have pushed the stack of paper as far as I can but still it wont catch it - I have cleaned it so unsure what the problem is. Any ideas?
