Mend Knob Gas Ignite

When I release the knob on the Oven the gas supply stops ?

The oven will ignite but when I release the oven temperature knob it goes out?

mine also, my cooker is a victoriana, made by flavel, seems to be happening to several people, is it a fault in design i wonder?
