Phillips 50incPlasma TV wont turn on but green light is on no picture or so?

Tried unplugging it and turning back on, disconnected the sky box nothing happened did speak to a repairer today who said the part gone just guessing by the symptems is £300 plus vat and then fitting approx £400 total, we did pay £1800for it nearly five years ago should we just right it off!!
