how can i fix my headlights on a gilera runner vx 125 03?

Hi, i have a gilera runner vx 125 03 plate and i have a problem with my headlights, the sidelights and the full beam are all working, with the dash. when i switch to headlight theres nothing... i've changed the relay now because the old one used to click when i switched to headlights. as i can see theres no fuses blown and all the other lights work! i was thinking this might be the switch on the handlebars which was causing the problem. also the indicators sometimes flash faster than normal, then they settle, im not sure if i have an earthing problem or not but help would be much appreciated!
