i have a renault laguna 1900 dci 52 plate, when i take of in 1st gear it makes a grinding noise, after that the rest of the gears are fine and it drives well, apart from a squeal at low speeds and especially around bends, also on a bank i cannot take off in 1st gear at all, and on the flat the car judders in 1st gear but you can drive it from a standing start. i've been told i need a gearbox, then i am told i need a clutch!!!!
can anybody help with some advice

possibly the syncro mesh on first gear,box will need to come out.if its peviously had a clutch ,the flywheel may well be your judder,may need skimmed.again box will need to come out,evidence on the flywheel of burning or high spots may seen.if so probably x taxi,sorry bud.
