my 2001 fiat punto makes a griding noise when out of gera or when changing down gear,
i have a new clutch and the gearbox oil is ok but it still makes the noise some one metioned it cud be a clutch bairing?
please tell me what the noise could be
If it's noisy when the pedal is pressed down it's usually the clutch bearing.
If it's noisy when the pedal is up, with the car out of gear, it's usually a gearbox bearing.

the two most common problems that will cause a noise is one the spigot bearing on the flywheel and two there is a loose bearing in the gearbox that is if the noise is in the gearbox when the car is not been driven
