Mend Brother XL2620 Machine Hand Side

Brother XL2620?

I was recently given this machine & noticed on the right hand side (Just under the wheel) there is a built in speaker.As I have no manual for this machine I have been unable to get this working,is it for a built in radio ? I have found a socket on the side of the machine to plug in Ipod etc but have been unable to increase the volume so I can hear it.I would appreciate any help.
