Mower doesn't engage?

John deere stx38 mower won't engage as it should when the yellow nob (by ignition key) is pulled up. test light shows wires from ignition box to the mower drive are getting electricity.

take it the wires go to a electric magnetic clutch ? if so test with a 12v directly to it should hear the magnet click in if not chances are your magnetic clutch has gone
