qualcast 35s cuts out with no choke?

I had the problem and I just put in a new sponge air filter. This fixed the problem. I couldn't get a proper qualcast sponge filter so I just cut one out of a new bath sponge. It did the job.

Dirty Carb.
Any running issues such as these come back to the carb. Clean it thoroughly. The jet is obstructed and not getting enough fuel thus needs choke to get that fuel. Remove bowl at bottom of carb, the nut holding this will either be the jet or be covering it. Use splinter of wood to poke into jet holes and rinse thoroughly.
