yes typical Ford problem they do not have a fuel priming pump fittted and will only start when there is pressure in the fuel system. So here is what to do get a hand priming bubble pump and some fuel pipe connect it in line from the fuel tank and prime the fuel up to the fuel filter the through the fuel filter and turn the ignition on and keep priming the fuel so that it flows into the high pressure pump. Making sure that you have all body parts clear of being dragged into the engine get someone to turn the engine over for 5 seconds then stop, prime the hand bubble again until it goes hard and turn the engine over again this time continue hand priming the fuel up from the tank as you do so the engine should start to fire with continued cranking and priming. If not slacken off the fuel pipes to the injectors (Be careful of diesel spray) and crank the engine over as you prime the fuel up until fuel starts to come out of the injector pipes. Once it does stop cranking and lock the fuel pipes down and crank the engine will priming and the engine should start. Leave running for a minute on tickover. Then turnoff and remove the hand priming pump from the fuel system and reconnect the original pipes and start the engine it should start but may need a bit of higher than normal tickover to expell and air that has entered the fuel system.

cheers for that filled filter got nothink didnt run out of fuel son put petrol in didnt run it dropped tank just carnt get fuel to go filter now doing my head in cheers

did you run out of fuel?know a guy at main dealer who says these can be difficult to get running again when pump is dry, would manually fill filter with diesel,then he said he has rigged up a direct feed down to the pump with a lenght of tubing and a funnel so you may need a spare banjo connection for the pump,worth a go good luck
