oil light comes on when engine idle on my ford ka?

Oil light is a warning of low oil PRESSURE not low oil level.
When was the oil and filter last changed, and was it filled with the correct grade and quality of oil?
Has the engine done very high mileage, or been left too long between services?

you need to get oil pressure checked with an accurate gauge to see if its low [which makes light come on].if it is then worn bearings or oil pump could be worn!
