Mend Matsui MF145 Dishwasher Salt Water Softener

How can I fix my Matsui MF145 dishwasher?

My Matsui MF145 dishwasher has a problem with the water softener. it is using an excessive amount of salt, there is very little water in the salt reservoir and a film of salt is deposited on the dishes and surfaces inside the washing machine
