How difficult is it to access the idle speed control valve?

Hi,

Can anyone enlighten me as to how easy or difficult it is to access the idle speed control valve in our Ford Mondeo 16 valve R Reg car.
We have been told it is easier to replace the part than clean it up,is this correct.?
Would appreciate any advice and thanks for looking and hopfully responding.
