Checking wireless motion?

Have a vista20se with a wireless motion sensor in stand alone garage. Cannot arm system (shows check 09- which is zone for wireless sensor). Changed batteries but sensor still does not light up when there is motion. It did send tamper signal when batteries were removed. Is there a way to check motion before buying new one or is there a way to delete motion from system. System will not let me bypass motion.
