i have a 2001 ford focus estate?

my central locking system starts working when I am driving. The other day it locked itself while the key was in the ignition and I was out of the car, I did not have another key when I purchased the car. Had to call someone out to open the car which was expensive. They tried to cut another key had two attempts but said key was too worn. Help please.
