why is my fridge freezer nt working?

There is power to my fridge freezer but neither one is working? I have been told that it may be the thermostat that is faulty? where is it placed on model SERVIS7455? Can you suggest other reasons for its non activity? I have been told that it is cheaper to get a new one than go for repair. It is 6 years old.
