I have an HP Deskjet 6980. Black ink was low so I replaced the cartridge as I have done numerous times in the past. It did not print black and instead was pulling ink from the color cartridge to print my documents. So I replaced it, thinking it might be old ( it was from 2009). I am using a newer cartridge and the same thing is happening. What could be wrong and how do I get my printer to print black?
I cleaned the cartridge with a qtip and alcohol and it works better now, but not completely. Also, I went into the printer icon and selected properties and clicked on grayscale, black only. Now it prints perfectly in black. Don't ask me why. I don't even work here! Good luck!
