Mend Singer 774 Sewing Machine Foot Pedal

my singer sylist 774?

Plugged in the sewing machine. Light comes on, but the machine won't budge. Why won't the machine work when I press on the foot pedal?

Check the wires thoroughly for any breaks, make sure the plugs are all the way in, if there is a buzzing noise when you press on the foot control but nothing happens you may have thread stuck in the machine, the foot control may have packed up.
