my renault clio R reg is playing up sometimes when starting most of the time it starts OK.but then other times it takes a few attempts before starting, spark plugs have been replaced but no joy its only got 65000 miles on clock its like the immobiliser stopping the engine firing up but will turn over.
I had a problem like this in my W-reg, turns out the key was faulty and wasn't cutting out the immobiliser.

Had the same sort of problem with my P reg automatic Clio. The RAC found loose wires to the starter solenoid, had to reach down through the engine to hand tighten them and suggested I get them further tightened when the vehicle was up on a ramp
