I stupidly put a nail through a floorboard into a wire underneath. It was the downstairs lighting circuit and the RCd on the fusebox tripped straight away (it's a modern system). I repaired the damaged wire using a flex connector (I'm certain the repair is good) but when going to turn on the RCD on the fuse board again it keeps tripping straight away every time?
Any ideas please?
if its modern cable, there will be no strands,to test it properly, you need to use a megger, lighting circuits are very simple,

you need to expose the wiring inside the sheathing and make sure that no strands of copper are touching each other where the nail went in.use a junction box to cover exposed wires when finished
