Mend Breville VHB011 Motor Unit Shaft

i have a breville hand blender.vhbo111?

in the end of the motor unit there is a plastic insert, which prevents the blending shaft being inserted to use, but the other bits can be used. does the plastic insert have to be removed every time to use all the bits. thank you.
