Hi, Theres a rectangular silver box with three inlets, one on the left and two on the right. The one on the right is leaking. Is there anything i can do till the plumber comes tomorrow.
Hi Carefree, I wonder if you can help me out. The boiler man couldn't come as he was ill. He sent his friend over, who turned a screw and temperarily stopped the leak and my hot water. He will come and fix it in a couple of days. Do you think the leak was caused by him in the first place as he had, a week ago cleaned the heat exchanger or will I have to pay him again?

Hi Carefree, Thank you for responding. What I noticed was that it only leaked when I used the hot water and turned the tap off fast. So I turned the tap on again and turned it off really slowly and the leak stopped. I'll wait till tomorrow afternoon when the boiler man who came last week is coming back to fix it. Last week I had no hot water and he said I needed a new heat exchanger or he could clean it. I opted to have it cleaned as it was cheeper. It took him about 2 hours but I got hot water. I expect he didn't tighten the nuts enough.

Not really, unless you're in the mood to strip it down. There are actually four connections (two left two right) and it would depend on whether it's the CH or HW connection that is leaking.
If it's a HW connection, turn the water off to the boiler overnight, if it's a CH connection, just keep the boiler topped up to a bar pressure to keep the heating going.
